Learn to Scuba Dive in Perth
Did you know that 70% of the earth is underwater? Learning to dive will introduce you to a whole new world! As a diver you’ll interact with marine life, make new friends, and open yourself up to new adventures.
This is your ticket to a lifetime of intense adventure.
Why become a certified diver?
Diving in Perth Western Australia is easily accessible for all levels of divers. Our shore line has everything from easy beach entries to see octopus and seahorses, to deeper shipwrecks for the more experienced diver.
Once you’re a certified Open Water Diver you can dive to 18m deep anywhere in the world, with a diving buddy. You’ll become part of the Dolphin Scuba Dive Team and have an open invitation to all our diving events, including our Free Sunday Morning Shore Dive every week.
Learning to dive is easy! It’s made up of three parts:
PART 1: Theory
This is done in the comfort of your own home. The E-Learning system can be used on any computer, Android or Apple mobile device. It’s a very interactive way of learning and takes anywhere from 5-8 hours to complete for this course.
PART 2: Pool Dives
You will begin with diving in a heated pool, starting with the basics like how to set up your equipment and becoming comfortable breathing underwater. We will work at your pace and build on your skills as we go. With such small groups (maximum 4 students per instructor) you’ll be surprised how much contact time you have with your instructor and how quickly you move through the diving skills.
PART 3: Ocean Dives
For the Learn to Dive Course you will complete 4 ocean dives. This is your opportunity to practice the skills you learned in the pool, and start to do a bit of exploring on the ocean floor in depths of 12m-18m deep. We choose a site that is nice and sheltered and we walk in at our own pace, avoiding boating schedules and time frames.
Note: Our Open Water Course is a 2 day program and 99% of people will complete everything and feel comfortable after the two days. If you feel like two days was just too short, you can come back and join another course for more time in the water with our instructors at no additional charge.

“I did my OW course here. Very professional. I feel so grateful to all the staff and instructors, because without their encouragement and help, I would never conquer my fear of clearing water in the mask. Will definitely come back and recommend to my friends” Janish L

Course Pre-requisites:
In Australia you can learn to dive from the age of 14 years old. You don’t need to be an athlete, you just need to be able to swim 200m continuously and tread water for 10 minutes.
You will also need to supply your own mask, snorkel, fins and boots (we don’t want an ill-fitted and uncomfortable mask or fins ruining your day!) If you don’t already own these, we include a $50 voucher to use towards the purchase of an affordable package of these essential personal items.
Medical Requirements:
You will be asked to complete the Medical Questionnaire when enrolling in any scuba diving course with Dolphin Scuba. This questionnaire is designed to identify any health issues that could cause complications while diving. If you answer ‘no’ to all the questions you won’t need to do any more. If you have any answers ‘yes’ you will need to see a doctor for a Recreational Diving Medical before starting your course.
