Malapascua is a small island only 2.5km long and 1km wide. The island is located about 8km off the north eastern tip of Cebu island and 25km west of Leyte. Diving in Malapascua offers a great variety of dive sites – from amazing coral to sandy muck dives, to wall diving, tunnels and wrecks. However the jewel in Malapascua’s crown is that it is the only place in the world for regular sightings of thresher sharks before sunrise. Thresher sharks use the Monad Shoal seamount as a cleaning station.

ITINERARY

Sunday 31st July

Departing Perth early morning with Singapore Airlines we will arrive in Singapore about Midday. We are here for the night and will have the afternoon / evening to explore.

 

Monday 1st August

First thing in the morning we head to the airport for our 10am flight to Cebu. Our bus transfer will be ready and waiting to take us on the 2 hour drive to the coast. Our final part of the journey is a 45minute boat cruise to Malapascua Island.

 

Tuesday 2nd to Sunday 7th August

DIVING DAYS! We have 6 days to make our way through the 17 dives included in the trip package.
13 Dives @ Malapascua Island

Combination of local dives, night dives, dusk Mandarin Fish dives and up to 5 dives with the rare and incredible Thresher Shark Dives.

Get ready for early morning starts as the Thresher Shark dives are early in the morning! They are deep water sharks that come up to the cleaning stations after a night of hunting. The diving is around the 30m mark and you’ll need to be Advanced Open Water Certified for this. Talk to us about getting this course done before we depart if need be.

 

2 Dives @ Gato Island
Gato Island is one of Malapascua’s most famous dive sites. Gato is a marine reserve and sea snake sanctuary. It has at least five dive sites with huge diversity of marine life – you can see such things as banded sea snakes, cuttlefish, seahorses, nudibranchs, frogfish, moray eels, scorpion fish, squid and big-mouthed mackerel. The rocky island has many interesting underwater rock formations, overhangs, and swim-throughs.

 

2 Dives @ Kalanggaman Island
Kalanggaman Island is a picture postcard island, with pristine white sand, waving palm trees and clear water, the island is considered one of the most beautiful islands in the Philippines. Drop down and view the walls covered in hard corals and gorgonian fans. Rare longnose hawk fish, nudibranches, and even the odd thresher shark can be found along the wall, amidst the large black corals gardens. Pygmy seahorses can be seen at the deeper fan corals. This daytrip is an unforgettable experience for all, divers and snorkelers.

 

Monday 8th August

Time to check out and make our way back to Cebu Airport for the 7pm flight to Singapore. We expect to land around 10.30pm and will make our way through the terminal to the next flight.

 

Tuesday 9th August

The final leg of the journey – our flight departs Singapore just after Midnight and expected to land in Perth 5am.
