With fringing reef and incredible wall dives – Christmas Island is a diving mecca for divers of any level or certification!

The island boasts an astonishing diversity of marine life: massive fan and plate corals line the reef, and support over 650 types of fish. For macro lovers the diving is heaven, with large numbers of nudibranchs, shrimp and other colourful critters. And for pelagic lovers – sightings of tuna, trevally, swordfish and marlin are common, along with manta rays, reef sharks, turtles and dolphins… there’s something for everyone! All of this in water temperatures of 26-29 degrees and stunningly consistent visibility, often reaching up to 50 metres(!)

Christmas Island offers more than stunning diving, and there is plenty to explore topside:

World-class bird-watching:

Christmas Island attracts 80,000 nesting seabirds every year, including the world’s rarest booby and frigatebird.

Red & Coconut Crabs

Go searching for the famous Christmas Island Red Crabs in the jungle, or the world’s largest crustacean – the Coconut Crab!

Rainforest and Jungle Treks

The best way to explore the spectacular rainforest, wetlands and landscapes that Christmas Island has to offer is by foot, and there is a variety of walks suitable to all fitness levels!

Food & culture

There is no shortage of freshly caught seafood (yummo!), plus a variety of delicious hawker-style Malaysian cuisine available on the Island. And in even better news: the island’s duty-free status means the drinks are highly affordable!
