Boat Diving Around Perth


Rottnest Island 

 

About:  The reefs around Rottnest are made of limestone and these have been carved into honeycomb formations, ledges, swim thoroughs and caves by surge and wave action. The result is a fantastic array of dive sites such the Opera House, Shark Cave, Roe Reef and Crystal Palace waiting to be explored.

Depth: This varies depending on the dive site.

When: We run trips 2-3 times a month in high season and whenever diver numbers permit in low season.

Where: Boats depart from Fremantle.

Cost: $170 per person, includes 2 dives and lunch on board. Gear hire and travel expenses are additional.

 Marmion Marine Park  


About: Marmion Marine Park is made up of shallow lagoons, reefs and small islands. Like Rottnest the main bedrock of the area is limestone which has been weathered to form ledges, swim throughs and caves that are home to a host of marine life. Dive sites in the marine park that are only accesible only by boat included North Lump, Wreck Rock, Cow Rocks, Wanneroo Reef and many more.

Depth: This varies depending on the dive site

When:  We run trips 2-3 times a month in high season and whenever diver numbers permit in low season.

Where: Boats depart from Hillarys boat harbour and Minadrie boat harbour

Cost: $170, $120 or $85 depending on place of departure, includes 2 dives and snacks. Gear hire and travel expenses are additional.

Boat Diving South of Perth 


HMAS Swan

 

About:  HMAS Swan (DE 50), named for the Swan River, was a River-class destroyer escort of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). Constructed in Melbourne following the loss of HMAS Voyager, Swan entered service in 1970, and remained in commission until 1996. Swan was sunk as a dive wreck off the coast of Dunsborough, Western Australia at the end of 1997.

Depth: This wreck is sitting in 32m of water. This is a deep dive and you are required to be certified as an Advanced Open Water Diver or higher.

When: From September to March we visit the HMAS Swan once a month.

Where: Boat departs from Quindalup Pro Boat Ramp, Dunsborough, WA. 

Cost: $170 per person includes 2 dives and snacks are provided between dives. Gear hire and travel expenses are additional.

The Lena

 

About: The Lena was a 55m long fishing vessel that was confiscated by the Austrlaian Government for illegal fishing. The vessel was sunk in 18m of water making it accesible for all level of divers. As an ex-fishing vessel the Lena has huge open fish holds that creat large openings through which light streams into the interior chambers, which are easliy accessbile for divers. 

Depth: The Lena lies on the sea bed at 18 meters.

When: We run trips to the Lena once or twice a year in high season.

Where: Boat departs from Bunbury, Casuarine Boat Harbour.

Cost: $130 per person, includes two dives. Gear hire and travel expenses are additional.

HMAS Perth 

About:  The HMAS Perth was a 133m long modified Leander-class light cruiser used by the Royal Australian Navy towards the end of the Second World War. The vessel was scuttled in November 2001 as a 'diver-prepared' wreck. Most of the ship's equipment has been left in place including a large gun at the aftm and the captains chair, which still swivels on the bridge. Since its sinking the wreck has been rapidly colonised by extensive sponge and coral growth turning the HMAS Perth into an artifical reef. 

Depth: The wreck sits in 36m of water

When: We run trips to the Perth once or twice a year in high season.

Where: Boat departs from Albany Town Jetty Marina and boat ramp.

Cost:  $170 per person, includes two dives. Gear hire and travel expenses are additional.

Boat Diving North of Perth


Key Biscayne

 

About: The Key Biscayne is an old oil rig that now sits upside down on its legs on a sandy seabed in 42 metres of water, the highest point being at 26 metres. The rig is now home to a variety of marine life, and the size of the rig offers experienced divers an unforgettable dive.

Depth: This is a deep dive to 42, you are required to be certified as a Deep Diver or higher to attend. Please contact the shop for more information. 

When: Diving the Key Biscayne is highliy weather dependent and trips run in October and March. 

Where: Boat departs from Lancelin.

Cost: $250 per person, includes two dives. Gear hire and travel expenses are additional.
