FAVOURITE LOCAL DIVE SITE: The Key Biscayne Wreck This is a jack up oil rig than sank in a storm. Sitting in 42m of water, it's a great wreck for both recreational and technical dives. It's such a big structure that it's really difficult to see the whole thing on 2 dives.
This only adds to the fun of diving this site as you always find something new. The wreck is home to big wobeggone sharks, large crayfish and lots of other schooling fishes. It a challenging but very rewarding dive.
Instructor Qualifications: MOST MEMORABLE DIVE: Manta Point Ari Atoll, Maldives This site really lived up to its name on one dive I made there. The visibility was not the best, but as we came around the reef we could see a group of manta rays hanging around in the shallows. They were coming in to the cleaning stations there. We stopped on the top of the reef as the giant rays swooped down and settled in to be cleaned. We were so close we could have touched them. As we watched them they seemed to acknowledge our presence, but they didn't seem to feel threatened or unnerved by us. We counted 27 mantas in total.
